Visual novels are a video game genre with Japanese roots. It is a self-insert medium play by people with no lives. It generally has prerendered backgrounds with text, accompanied sometimes by voice acting. Typically in these games the player is presented with various decisions that controls the ultimate outcome of the narrative. These decision points convince the fat man sitting on the computer playing these games that have any real agency in their empty lives within the basement.
Not to be confused with dating sims. Those actually have gameplay.
*Nukige: Any game that puts sexual context at the forefront. Any plot is just used as an explanation for the next sex scene. Basically visual novels with intellectual honesty.
*Chuunige: Visual Novels that want to be like Dragon Ball Z by having tons of manga style fight scenes, but instead have paragraphs upon paragraphs of narration detailing incredibly boring details while static images fly across the screen since the developers are kikes too stingy to buy real animation.
*Nakige: Games designed to make you BAWWWWW. These games will turn the most inconsequential of life events and turn them into the most important shit ever. But don't worry! These games usually have a Deus Ex Machina so the player can stop crying and start fapping again.
*Utsuge: Games in this category are lame attempts at trying to be dark and depressing in order to get the reader to cut themselves. Imagine a generic edgy fanfiction, but with an actual budget.
*Charage: Games that "focus on charaterization and character interactions instead of an overarching plot". In other words, this shit has even less plot than Azumanga Daioh.
*Otomoge: The interactive equivalent to Twilight. These games are basically the same shit as all of the above except you have a vagina and the objective is to receive surprise buttsecks from anorexic twinks.
